Metal roof mounting: what must be checked first?
Metal roofs differ by profile, seam design, panel thickness, support spacing and age. A clamp that fits one profile may be unsuitable for another, so the mounting choice starts with the roof drawings and manufacturer information.
Pre-design checklist
- Identify the exact roof profile and substrate, including corrosion environment.
- Have a qualified local engineer verify added load, wind uplift and attachment load paths.
- Confirm clamping or penetration details, roof warranty conditions and waterproofing method.
- Plan safe access, cable routing, grounding and maintenance clearance.
Do not order brackets solely by a generic “metal roof” description. Send roof photos, profile dimensions and project location with the mounting inquiry so the supplier and installer can check compatibility.
