How to choose a hybrid inverter for a home
A hybrid inverter must fit both the PV array and the battery system, as well as the home electrical supply. A headline power rating alone does not confirm that it can serve the desired backup loads.
Compare the full operating envelope
- Confirm single-phase or three-phase supply and the local grid code.
- Check PV input voltage, current and MPPT ranges against the planned module strings.
- Check battery voltage, chemistry, BMS communication and approved battery lists.
- Separate continuous output from short-duration surge capability for motors and pumps.
- Confirm whether a backup output, transfer device and monitoring are included.
Ask the installer to document the selected wiring and protection scheme. The inverter category lists the information we need before recommending a model.
