Grid-tied, hybrid or off-grid: which system fits the project?

The first decision is the operating requirement. A grid-tied system exports or offsets electricity while the grid is available. A hybrid design adds compatible storage and controls, but backup capability must be verified for the exact inverter and wiring arrangement. An off-grid site needs enough generation, storage and often a secondary power source to cover low-sun periods.

Ask these questions

  • Is the site connected to a reliable grid? What are the interconnection and export rules?
  • Which circuits must stay on during an outage, and for how long?
  • What is the daily and seasonal load profile?
  • Who will install, commission and service the system locally?

Start with the load and grid conditions, then choose the inverter and storage architecture. A parts list without those inputs can hide compatibility gaps. See the home and off-grid solution paths.
